What to expect
Before the session:
If you need to receive permission from a medical doctor before receiving bodywork/massage therapy, please complete, print out, and receive your doctor's signature for the Physician Permission Form.
For house calls, I will need a space about 3 times the size as a twin bed.
Allow at least 30 min to digest food before your session, so that you are neither hungry nor full.
Please be fully dressed in clothes that are easy to move around in.
During the session:
I will spend a few minutes setting up equipment.
You will remain fully clothed.
I take a gentle approach, often incorporating pressing, holds, kneading, rocking, and stretching.
Please let me know the areas of your body you would like addressed and/or avoided. You are encouraged to communicate any concerns. Make sure you are comfortable and let me know if you are not. This is your session. You can ask for changes or stop it at any time.
Other than questions to clarify as needed, I will not talk during the session unless you do first.
I do not have a music player, but you can play music on your own device.
If you find it challenging to relax at first, bring your attention to your breathing or to how the massage feels.
After the session:
I will suggest any appropriate aftercare tips.
If possible, allow quiet time for yourself.
How you feel after the session will vary based on the techniques and the demands that you place on you body afterward. Feelings may range from relaxed, renewed, centered, to invigorated, excited, or even insightful.
There is no reason to feel sore or hurt after a massage. On occasion, however, some people experience a normal and mild sensation of soreness. If such soreness persists longer than 24 hours, please let me know so the approach can be adjusted for next time and we can avoid any discomfort altogether.
At the end of the session, I will spend a few minutes disinfecting and packing up equipment.
Bodywork/massage therapy benefits:
Bodywork/massage therapy is provided for stress reduction, relaxation, relief from pain and muscular tension, improvement of range-of-motion, increased body awareness, and to support well-being.
